Line Type
When you’re fishing with a baitcasting rod and reel, you can use monofilament line, braided line, and fluorcarbon lines depending on the situation.
Braided Line
In general, you will probably want to use a braided line with your baitcaster. This is because a lot of times when using a casting reel, you are targeting larger fish. Braided line is thicker and stronger than monofilament line, which is why it is usually preferred. Braided line also gives you very little stretch which results in a good amount of sensitivity. The drawback of braided line is that it tends to be somewhat thick though, so it’s not recommended for line shy fish unless you have a translucent or low-visiblity color
Monofilament Line
You don’t always need braided for baitcasters. Monofilament line can be another good option depending on where and what you are fishing.
