The rod is lightweight and sensitive making it excellent for Carolina rigs. When fishing a Carolina rig you generally want to use a longer rod to help you make longer casts, which is why we recommend the 7’6″ model. A medium-heavy rod is also desirable. Overall this is an excellent fishing rod. It is reasonably priced and will help you perform when casting Carolina rigs.

It is made from carbon fiber with a powerful Powerlux resin fill that makes the rod stronger, lightweight, and more balanced than your average fishing rod. The last rod on our list is the Lew’s Fishing Custom Lite LCLFRH Magnum Casting Rod. This rod is made from high-grade modulus graphite which creates the perfect strong and sensitive rod. It has titanium guides that allow for your lines to smoothly flow through. The rod also has polymer grips to improve handling in a variety of weather conditions. How To Choose a Fishing Rod for Casting Carolina Rigs
If you’re looking to add a dedicated Carolina rig rod to your collection there are a few different things you want to consider
- Rod Power
When you are fishing a Carolina rig setup you will get the best performance from a baitcasting rod and reel.
We recommend a medium-heavy power rod. The power of a rod refers to the amount of pressure required to make the rod bend. Medium-heavy is kind of in the middle, where it takes a bit of pressure but not as much as a heavy rod. This will allow you to fish your rig optimally.
For fishing c-rigs, you will want a fast action rod. This means that the rod bends more towards the tip (slower action rods bend towards the middle of the rod). Having a fast action rod will allow you to drag your rig across the bottom more easily.
The length is also an important part of fishing c-rigs. Usually, you want something over 7′. Longer rods allow you to make longer casts and will help the sweeping hooksets you need to properly work your rig. If you know the area you are fishing requires really short casts you can go with something shorter though.
